Brightside Arts is an enterprise born in the imagination of artist Joyce Milton. The company specializes in custom art pieces using painted glass, usually glued to wood and grouted with exterior-grade grout.
Painting on glass is a time-consuming craft that yields unique results. Every piece is given three coats of color and is hand cut, so no two pieces are precisely the same. Painted glass results in work that reflects light much more effectively than ceramic tile.
Whenever possible, the company uses glass that is headed for the dumpster and valuess redeeming material that can be recycled and given beauty.
Joyce enjoys designing pieces with significance to the recipient, often as an icon such as a cross, tree or sword that speaks for itself. These pieces may also contain meaningful added words, or phrases that reflect the personal values or interests of the person or family for whom the art is created. Since glass is painted in-house, we are able to coordinate colors for any setting.
At this time, almost every creation of Brightside Arts is a custom art piece. We only sell from pre-made inventory at special events such as conferences or art shows. Every purchase is created specifically for your order. This adds to the time and labor costs of the company, but many customers feel that the added value more than compensates for the need to plan ahead when they need something to mark a special occasion.
Looking ahead, Joyce would eventually love to see Brightside Arts reach out to impoverished areas around the world, teaching people a craft that would enable them to support themselves and their families. |
